Inside an Installation

I’m ready to get my art on!
$200 plus the cost of the frame and the extra time it takes to complete (total cost will vary according to how big you want to go with your gem piece project).
If you’d like to create more of an art installation and/or use your gem piece to show off your jewelry, we can do that! (Check out some examples below.)!
The emerald
I made a necklace out of some gems, painted the emerald and then displayed it on a velvet black bust. The result is a striking, glowing piece (night or day).
The diamond
Because the diamond needs to stand out, I decided to up my game with the frame. I found the perfect gold box at the Rolling Frame Revue framing company in Atlanta, GA. They made it out of a picture frame with red velvet inside and I simply added some diamond gems and diamond trim for what can work as either an art installation or a jewelry box.
The blue topaz
I was in the mood to try something different, so I led this project with a little wood jewelry box, a large, uncut blue topaz gemstone and some small multi-colored gemstones. After drawing and painting the blue topaz, I realized that I wanted to do a little social commentary with it.
So, I took the little multi-colored gems and stuck them on the bottom of the uncut gemstone and placed a beautiful light blue velvet piece of cloth in the jewelry box. The result is that you can pick up the uncut stone, turn it over and realize that it’s got some “warts” or “bugs” on the bottom, it’s not as perfect as you might think. Just like people. But that doesn’t mean our imperfections are ugly—sometimes they are the most beautiful part of us.
